On Monday 24th April it was confirmed that there could be a summer opening for the new venue, one that will be called Barneys Bingo. Planners have given the green light!
Approval For Barneys Bingo
The venue, previously a furniture upholstery shop, is currently being fully kitted out following approval from the planners. It will no longer be a retail unit but become a bingo hall with food servery.
The hall is to be called Barneys Bingo in homage to a club that was once on Poulton Road was officially named Top Ten Bingo. It closed in 2009 after the smoking ban was introduced and online bingo became more popular.
When speaking about the fate of the old venue, Stephen Ashe who is setting up the new club, doesn’t seem concerned. He said that the new club he said that as a smaller establishment there will be fewer overheads and it will be better able to cope with the current climate.
New Jobs At Barneys Bingo
With a new bingo hall comes more jobs and it is hoped that 15 will be created when it opens.
Speaking about the planning being approved, Mr. Ashe said
We’re really pleased that the planners have given us the go ahead. Of course there are still a few boxes to tick like premises and gaming licenses, but the biggest was the planning.
We have created a Facebook page for Barneys Bingo and people can follow the progress there.
Word has spread and I am constantly asked when we are opening. We don’t have a specific date as yet but it will be in the summer of 2017.
