On Saturday 2nd November there was an interesting article in The Telegraph and it was about the possible rebranding of Gala Bingo [read article here].
Upon reading the full article, we couldn’t help but wonder if Gala Bingo are trying to mimic what Mecca Bingo have done with Luda Bingo?
Gala Bingo To Sell Halls
The Telegraph tells of how Caledonia Investments, the company who bought Gala Bingo in 2015, are looking to sell some of the sites. Another consideration is that they may offer excess space in venues around the country to other companies.
It has been suggested by various industry sources that like many bingo halls, Gala has been hampered in its success by the growing popularity in online bingo.
What we found really interesting was that the domains for Gala Bingo and their casino brand are both owned by Ladbrokes Coral. This would mean that if the retail arm wanted to make a push forward online, they would need to use another name.
The suggestion has been that Buzz Bingo would be the brand used. The domains for this brand are owned by Gala Leisure Ltd but listed at the same address as Gala Bingo, with the same Coral email address.
No Comment From Gala
The Telegraph approached Gala for comment on the possibility for a rebrand but they declined to comment.
A spokesman for Gala is reported as having said
We regularly review opportunities to invest in our estate and create added value services for our customers.
There may be occasions where clubs are considered for disposal but this will be on a case-by-case basis.
