Earlier this month an auction took place and the building that hosts Gala Bingo in Marischal Street and the Drummers Bar nightclub was sold.
For the 13 staff at the Gala Bingo hall, this looks likely to mean redundancy because, whilst management are trying to retain them at other venues, the nearest is in Aberdeen. This is 31.5 miles away and a 50 minute drive.
January Closing For Gala Bingo, Peterhead
The last session at this bingo hall will be 3rd January and it’s going to see the club close with a bang as a special event has been planned.
A spokesperson for Gala Bingo spoke to The Press and Journal in Aberdeen and is reported to have said
We are able to confirm that contracts have been exchanged with a third party to purchase the Gala Bingo venue in Peterhead.
It has not been an easy decision and does not reflect on the employees at the club. They have always delivered a sterling service to all customers over the years.
We will try and find alternative employment opportunities for those employees affected by the club closure.
Gala Bingo Peterhead Facebook
The Facebook page for the club has been awash with good wishes since the news broke and it’s clear that it’s going to be quite a loss to the regulars.
Vikki Carson, who has been at the club for 23 years, said after the Christmas Party
