Over the last few weeks we have seen a number of changes in the world of online bingo around the bonuses offered to players. This has been largely attributed to a new tax that operators have to pay as of 1st August 2017.
Now whilst we as players expected to see a drop in the bonuses that are offered, we did not expect to see that we would be indirectly picking up the cost but it seems like that is what Iceland Bingo are doing…
Cap On Bonuses At Iceland Bingo
The first thing we noticed on a recent visit to Iceland Bingo was that there had been a slight change in how they advertised their 300% cash match bonus.
Previously it was billed as a ‘deposit £10, play with £40’ offer but currently the site is advertising ‘deposit just £5 for a £15 bonus + spin our prize wheel’.
It was only when we were double checking previous information that we realised that the maximum bonus on offer now is just £15 compared with a maximum amount of £150 previously.
The screenshot example is from the offer that the site had available in June 2017.
Increased Wagering At Iceland Bingo
As of June 2017, and evidence is available online to corroborate this, the wagering requirements for bonuses were listed as follows at Iceland Bingo:
Unless otherwise stated in the specific terms and conditions that apply to each type of bonus, you agree by accepting such terms to wager X4 the total amount of the bingo Bonus Funds, or (as applicable) X99 the total amount of IG Bonus Funds, or in case of deposit related bonus, to wager the total of X4 (the amount of the deposit + the amount of the relevant Bonus Funds) for Bingo Bonuses or X80 (the amount of the deposit + the amount of the relevant Bonus Funds) for IG deposit bonuses prior to cashing out.
Whilst these T&C’s remain the same for the majority of bonuses, the T&C’s listed on the home page, under the welcome offer currently advertised state:
1st deposit only. Min. deposit £5. Max. bonus £15. Bonus has to be wagered 6 times before can be cashed out with its respective winnings. Winnings from bonus money can be cashed-out up to a value of £400. Withdrawal restrictions and further T&C’s apply.
We’re wondering where the extra 2x wagering came from?
What was really interesting, a certainly confusing when we did register an account was the pop up that was shown the moment registration was complete.
