It was back in September 2016 that Postcode Bingo made the decision to stop using affiliates to promote their brand. Just over a year after that decision, the site closed to players.
The closure of Postcode Bingo comes as a bit of a shock because it was linked to the popular People’s Postcode Lottery. Could it be that they simply chose to cut all ties with 888 following the operators failure in the social responsibility area?
Bye Bye Postcode Bingo
The bingo site had been around quite a while and in 2014 underwent a makeover, one that was desperately needed. It was powered by the 888 software and part of the large Dragonfish network.
As part of the new look for the site, we saw Danyl Johnson (a contestant from the X Factor back in 2009) appear on the home page. Additionally they were supporting the PDSA through the Postcode Lottery.
This made the site more appealing to players, or at least we thought so but just three years later and it has bitten the dust.
We didn’t receive any notification of the closure but the site stopped welcoming players through their virtual doors as of 31st December 2017.
It has been reported that the reason for the closure is that they simply want to concentrate on the lottery side of things. Our guess is that with the over zealous nature of compliance from 888, the Postcode Lottery just felt that too much time would need to be invested in the bingo to make it worthwhile.
Other Dragonfish Sites
The closure won’t be a loss to the world of online bingo and it’s unlikely that players are going to miss Postcode Bingo. There are so many other brands available on the same network, and new sites joining at an exponential rate.
