The Gala Bingo club in Croxteth was recently the target for a gang of masked armed robbers but this didn’t mean the game ended!

A G4S guard was set upon by the gang who hit him repeatedly in the legs and on the head. Luckily he was wearing a helmet and this protected his head but he did suffer some minor leg injuries.

Inside the bingo hall, the game carried on regardless despite it being reported that someone ran into the hall ‘screaming call the police’. Not long after the incident, a Gala Bingo spokesperson said ‘everything was normal inside’.

Gala Bingo Punter Scared

One woman told the Liverpool Echo that she was frightened for her life. She said

A customer came running into the hall, she was shaking. I was convinced that we were all going to die.

The girl who works on the front desk at the club went running through to the back. She was clearly frightened too.

The police are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who saw a dark coloured Ford in or around the area before the incident.

They said

The area was busy at the time of the incident and we think there is a possibility that someone filmed part or all of the assault and robbery on their mobile phone.

We would appeal to anyone who saw of film the incident to contact the police. Any information that they may have would be crucial to the investigation.

Not The First Robbery At This Gala Bingo Hall

In December 2011 armed robbers stormed the venue and made off with large amounts of money.

Staff were threatened but no one was hurt, despite being very badly shaken up by the event.
