On Friday, it was announced that the ‘nude calendar’, which was part of an on-screen storyline, has is going to be sold to raise funds for BBC Children in Need (BBCCIN).
A trio of photos was revealed and the stars involved are Sonia Fowler, posing with a giant sparkly heart as the Valentine pin-up for February, and Peter Beale is May’s poster boy, going topless in a fish shop.
Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) show off a little bit of their figures while carrying a pink lilo in the August page, a reference to people going on their summer hols.
EastEnders‘ executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said of the calendar: “When we developed our calendar storyline featuring so many of Albert Square’s residents as viewers have never seen them before, it seemed such a shame not to share the fun with our audience.
“It’s been a long time since EastEnders released a calendar, and this is the perfect opportunity for EastEnders fans to get hold of something a little bit special while raising money for such a worthwhile cause.”
Natalie Cassidy, who has played Sonia on the soap for years, said: “Everybody who took part in the calendar had a blast, and everyone should have a cheesy EastEnders calendar on their wall for 2015 – go and buy one because it’s brilliant, and you’re raising money for a wonderful cause.”
David Ramsden, Chief Executive of BBC Children in Need, praised the show’s team spirit: “We are so grateful that the EastEnders team have pulled together such a fantastic fun calendar. We hope people will buy it and raise money that will change young lives right across the UK.”
Fans of Eastenders or anyone who wants to give money to a good cause can buy the calendar now on the official BBC Children in Need website. It’s priced at £10 and half of all sales will go towards Children in Need. Go on, do the right thing.
