A visit to Tombola recently revealed a sad piece of news, the site is set to close two of its most established games! Whilst the two games in question were never really firm favourites of ours, it’s still a bit of a blow.
The two games are Battleships and Bandits and both are set to be removed from the site on 28th September. Tombola tell us that the two are set for retirement and plan on heading to the South Coast with a few afternoon gins. Whatever the plans for the games, if they are firm favourites of yours, you only have a short while left to play them.
About Battleships At Tombola
We’re not sure on what date Battleships launched at Tombola but it has been around a while. It is a game that works in much the same way as the board game. You have four different ships that you have to place around the board.
- 2 x 2 squares
- 1 x 3 square
- 1 x 4 square
You place them on the game board and then co-ordinates are called. The player who destroys all of the enemy ships first is considered the game winner.
Bandit At Tombola
Bandit was launched at Tombola in 2008 and at that time, all the rooms were full of players. In this game you play a one off price and then get 15 spins on the Bandit with which you have to score the most amount of points.
Points are awarded and determined by the type of symbol combination that appear on the reels and the top scoring player landed the house prize at the end of the game.
It’s worth noting that neither game was overly populated with players when we visited recently which could be why Tombola have made the decision to close the games.
Out With The Old, In With The New?
Fingers crossed that with the removal of Battleships and Bandits we are about to see some new games from Tombola. We love their innovation but are worried that Tombola Arcade has now taken the driving seat and the bingo side of things is on the back burner.
Time will tell….
